Abstract

Advanced dementia is a terminal condition needing palliative care, which should begin at the point of diagnosis of dementia. However, the end-of-life care for dementia is poor. Reduced intake of food and weight loss in end-stage dementia are indicators of onset of dying process as well as altered level of consciousness, poor eye contact, speech disturbance, decreased muscle flexibility and swallowing difficulty. Maintenance of comfort and dignity is crucial in th endof-life care for the dementia patients.
